Havana, September 21 (JIT) - The president of the Cuban Boxing Federation, Alberto Puig, highlighted the results of the preparation base faced in Paris by 10 of the Cuban fighters who are strong candidates to defend the colors of their country in the Pan American Games of Santiago 2023.

"They are all in perfect condition and are making the most of the joint work with French athletes," said the executive from Paris, where seven men and three women are preparing.

Regarding the recent six-round sparring sessions, Puig praised the performance of Central Caribbean bronze medalist Yakelín Stornell (75 kg) against French Olympic champion Estelle Mossely, and said that the goals set by the coaches were achieved, as it happened in the last nine dates.

Asked about what was planned after that segment, Puig confirmed that double Olympic champion Arlen Lopez (80 kg) and world runner-up Fernando Arzola (+92 kg) will be part of the IBA Night of Champions to be held on the 23rd in Monaco.

He specified that Arlen will be the opponent of the Dutch Gradus Kraus and that Arzola is waiting for another opponent after the non-confirmation of the Spanish Ayoub Ghadfa Drissi, initially announced by the organizers.    He added that the preparation for the continental event will live another important moment in Pinar del Rio, from September 27 to October 6.

As it is known, besides Arlen, Arzola and Yakelín, Alejandro Claro (51 kg), Saidel Horta (57 kg), Lázaro Álvarez (63.5 kg), Jorge Cuéllar (71 kg), Julio César La Cruz (92 kg), Legnis Calá (57 kg) and Arianne Imbert (66 kg) traveled to France.
