Havana, October 7 (ACN)-- The Cuban dupla playera of Jorge Luis Alayo and Noslen Diaz defeated 2-1 the Czech Republic dupla of Ondrej Perusico and David Schweiner in group I of the World Championship, scheduled to be held in four venues in three cities of Mexico -Tlaxcala, Huamantla and Apizaco.

With stage at the Plaza de Toros de Tlaxcala court, Alayo and Diaz won Friday night the first set, 21-17, fell in the second, 15-21, and won the third, 15-9, according to the International Federation's website www.fivb.com.

The Cuban duo was better in attacking, 35 points to 31, and blocking (5-1), while the Czech team was ahead in serving (3-1) and committed two fewer errors of their own (10-12), according to the official statistics of the match.

Individually, Perusico was the top scorer of the match with 26 points, 24 in attack and two in service, followed by Alayo (23/22-0-1), Diaz (18/13-5-0) and Perusico (9/7-1-1).

In the other match on Friday, the Mexican duo of Galingo-Aguirre defeated the Brazilian duo of Evandro-Arthur 2-0 (21-17 and 21-18).

Today will be a rest day in key I, so the actions will resume this Sunday night with the Cuba-Brazil and Czech Republic-Mexico challenges.

From the Round of 32 onwards, the tournament will continue in single elimination format, with the Round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals and medal matches on Sunday 15.
