Havana, November 15 (ACN) -- The Cuban flag is waving over the Village of the VII Parapan American Games of Santiago de Chile 2023, after the raising ceremony held on Tuesday along with those of 30 other countries.

The website of the sports publication JIT highlights that the activity included military solemnity, the joy of music and regional dances.

It also notes that the fraternization between paratriathletes colored the event in which all the delegations present came together, as a multicolored mixture.

The anthem of the Games was heard as the flags ascended the white masts, arranged side by side in an arc from the perspective of the square, where the attendees watched as a sign of respect.

Air Force planes flew over the sky of the Cerrillos district in the Chilean capital, painting the sky white, blue and red.

We invite you to feel at home, to enjoy this event, especially to achieve your goals. Welcome to the Parapan American Games," said Jaime Pizarro, Chile's Minister of Sports.

Julio César Ávila, president of the Paralympic Committee of the Americas, congratulated those who are participating in the Parapan American Games for the first time and urged them to continue their efforts. He stressed the importance of the fraternization of peoples, beyond the competition.

JIT's special envoy noted that the ceremony concluded with a cultural review of Chilean music and dance. And while this was happening, the athletes exchanged stamps and flags, and greeted each other as an example of the fraternization that Ávila praised.
