Havana, January 5 (JIT)-- Samuel Garcia, governor of the city of Nuevo Leon, in Mexico, has launched his interest to host the 2027 Pan American Games and asked citizens, through social networks on the Internet, if they should host the most important fairs of the continent.

"How do you see, are we bringing the 2027 Pan American Games to Nuevo Leon? I read you!!!", said Garcia in his official X account.

It is worth remembering that Nuevo Leon will host the 2026 Fifa World Cup of the United States, Mexico and Canada. Taking advantage of the fact that the city should have the ideal infrastructure to host the orbital event, the governor proposes to host the Pan American Games.

Garcia believes that his entity has the capacity to host the event that Panam Sports snatched from Barranquilla for breach of contract, because it will have the infrastructure and logistics that will be used when Monterrey, capital of the northern state, hosts World Cup matches.

Jalisco also applied. The director of the state council for sports promotion of the state government, Fernando Ortega, was in charge of raising his voice.

Panam Sports has not commented on the offers made by Jalisco or Nuevo León. Officials of these states have not clarified whether formal negotiations have been initiated to host the event.

OTHER BETS

Asunción, the capital of Paraguay, has been sounding strong since last October as a possible replacement city for the Games. It is backed by the success of the XII South American Games of Odesur in 2022, and that it will host the upcoming Special Latin American Games and the II Junior Pan American Games in 2025.

In the Internet social networks, some users launch the proposal of San Salvador, after the success of the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games and the undeniable advances in terms of security and infrastructure.

Other participants in the debate consider that some cities in the United States and Canada could be strong contenders. With little time to organize the event, it would be a safe bet in terms of finance, technology and infrastructure.

Panam Sports should soon inform the new schedule for the election of the host city, although Bogotá is taking steps to reverse the decision taken on Wednesday.

And not only negotiations are underway...The public debate has heated up to such an extent that administrative, judicial and even political consequences are expected. Criticisms are raining down along with assessments on the effects of the event in terms of sports, credibility and economics.
