
Cuban taekwondokas
Havana, Apr 7 (RHC) - Cuban taekwondokas excelled this weekend in international taekwondo competitions held in the Mexican city of Queretaro.
The Caribbean island, undisputed protagonist, won three gold medals and four bronze medals, confirming its status as a continental power in the discipline.
In addition to the title won by Yoikel Daniel Goicochea (+80 kg) in the IV PanAm Series, Kevin González (54 kg) won the Junior Pan American Championship and Hailenid de la Caridad Sierra (44 kg) won in the cadet segment.
Elianet Crespo (67 kg) won the bronze medal in Queretaro and together with Goicochea is waiting for the confirmation of tickets for the Junior Pan American Games of Asuncion 2025.
Kevin Gonzalez also climbed to the top in the 54 kilograms of the cadet tournament. This earned him to be elected MVP in his weight.
The young Hailenid, also deserved the MVP, and added to her bronze medal in the Junior Open.
Aley de Jesús Machado (54 kg), in cadets, and Jheison González (44 kg), in the Junior Pan American, also closed the podium in third place.
