Panama vs Honduras

Havana, June 29 (RHC) Panama's national team lost on penalties (4-5) to Honduras, the surprise team of the Gold Cup.

At State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona (United States), the team led by Spanish-Danish coach Thomas Christiansen arrived with a perfect record in the group stage and as favorites to advance. However, they faced a disciplined and effective opponent that withstood their attacks and took advantage of their opportunities.

The goals in regular time came at key moments.

The first was scored by Panamanian Ismael Díaz, who scored his sixth goal of the tournament, consolidating his position as the competition's top scorer, after finishing with a classy penalty kick in the 45th minute.

The Canaleros' lead was short-lived. In the 82nd minute, Antony Lozano made no mistake in front of the goal and made it 1-1.

The ticket to the semifinals was decided by penalty kicks, despite attempts by both sides to break the tie.
