Havana, July 8 (RHC) - Olympic 100-meter champion Noah Lyles of the United States announced today that he will kick off his track season this Friday with a 200-meter race.

Through his Instagram account, Lyles confirmed his participation in the 200 meters at the Diamond League meeting scheduled for Monaco.

The 27-year-old athlete already competed in a 400-meter race last April in Atlanta as part of his preparation, but he has not yet made his debut in his preferred distances.

At the Monaco event, his main rival will be the reigning Olympic champion in the distance, Botswana's Letsile Tebogo, who beat him in last year's summer final at the Stade de France.

For both athletes, the event will serve as preparation for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, scheduled for September 13 and 21.
