Arlen Lopez

Havana, July 18 (RHC) - Cuban Arlen López defeated Mexican Paul Valenzuela and retained the World Boxing Association (WBA) Latin American continental belt.

In Madrid, the two-time Olympic champion celebrated a 3-0 decision in a 10-round bout in the light heavyweight division, remaining undefeated in five such fights.

Three months after winning that title, the 2015 world champion overcame the greater experience of an opponent armed with many “tricks,” who came into the fight with a record of 28 wins (5 KOs), 12 losses, and one draw.

Scores of 100-90, 98-92, and 97-93 show how he dominated in one of the fights on the card at the WBA European Convention.

His previous bout, which earned him the title he now defends, took place on July 11 at the Meliá Internacional Hotel in Varadero, with a 3-0 record, also in 10 rounds, against Argentina's Martín Ezequiel Bulacio.
