Under-12 Baseball World Cup

Havana, July 25 (RHC) - The Cuban national team lost today 3x6 to the host and favorite team of Chinese Taipei in the debut of the Under-12 Baseball World Cup, held at the Asia Pacific International Stadium in the city of Tainan.

In a game belonging to group A, the locals scored a dirty run in the first inning against Cuban starter Yordan Reyes, the eventual loser. And one inning later, they extended the lead, when they joined a ticket, a ball, a double steal, and a hit by catcher Cyuan Li, which towed two runners and caused Reyes to leave the mound.

The Taipeians put the nail in the coffin in the third chapter with a three-run run against reliever Xavier García.

For the little Cubans, who received 12 strikeouts and committed two errors, there was a home run by their fourth batter Sean Manuel García against reliever Qi-Sheng Chen, in the fifth act with a runner on.

Cuba will take the field again early this morning (2:30 a.m. local time) to face a strong Japan squad. This same Saturday they will face Mexico at night (10:30 p.m.).
