Toronto 2015 Para-pan American Games

With only hours remaining to complete the 5th Para-pan American Games, Brazil already celebrates its coronation today in the continental competition.

The South American delegation shows 107 gold, 74 silver and 74 bronze medals, escorted by Canada (49-62-54) and the US (39-49-44) while Cuban athletes go in 6th position with 19-15-13 medals.

With 6 titles reached on Friday, Mexico rose to the 4th place, with 38 gold, 36 silver and 39 bronze medals, followed by Colombia (24-36-30).

This Saturday it going to be played only for the medals of wheelchair basketball, goal ball and football 7, and all for men.

Previously, Cuban judokas Yordani Fernandez and Yangaliny Jimenez won the titles at 100 and +100 kg., respectively, from which Cuba ascended to the 2nd place in the medal board of the discipline with 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals, only surpassed by Brazil (2-2-2).

Volleyball

Couples from 10 countries have confirmed their participation in the 5th stage of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour scheduled from August 26th to 30th at Varadero resort.

Daniel Toledo, general coordinator of the next NORCECA circuit here, told local Prensa Latina news agency in Havana that among the countries attending with male duets are Canada (2), Cuba (2), Trinidad and Tobago; Suriname, US Virgin Islands, Haiti, Dominican Republic, St. Kitts and Nevis, and St. Lucia.

While in the fight in the women branch are United States (2), Cuba (2) as well as Canada, Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname, US Virgin Islands, Dominican Republic, and St. Lucia, stated the coordinator.

Toledo confirmed that the headquarters of the event will be the Barcelo Solymar touristic complex, located on the north coast of the western province of Matanzas, 140km east of Havana.

According to the schedule released by the sports organization, the regional event had its opening in Cayman Islands in April, and will close its competitive schedule from November 11th to 16th in Trinidad and Tobago.

NORCECA circuit of the Caribbean Volleyball Confederation also takes place in the Dominican Republic, the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, St. Lucia, Antigua and Guatemala, according to the program of the event.

 

Basketball

Baseball
Havana's Los Leones and Sancti Spiritus' Los Gallos, the two finalists of the National Baseball Series II U23 category come out this Saturday to settle the 1st bilateral clash at the Santiago "Changa" Mederos Stadium in the Cuban capital.

Sunday will be a travel day to resume actions on Monday at the Jose Antonio Huelga Stadium.
