New York, August 27 (RHC)-- Up to 30 women are expected to testify at a hearing against Jeffrey Epstein, the accused serial sexual predator who took his own life in a Manhattan jail cell earlier this month.

U.S. District Judge Richard Berman scheduled the hearing after prosecutors asked that he drop the case because Epstein is dead.  He said that he would offer survivors, prosecutors and Epstein’s lawyers a chance to speak.

Bradley Edwards, a lawyer representing some of Epstein’s accusers, told NBC News the hearing marks “a historic day for crime victims in the United States.”
