Cusco, June 26 (RHC)-- The virtual winner of the recent elections in Peru, Pedro Castillo, called on Friday to leave behind the electoral contest without winners or losers.

"Let's start this new stage without hatred and without differences.  Here there are no winners or losers.  Here there is only one family which is the Peruvian people," said Castillo from the Peruvian city of Cusco.

Pedro Castillo urged to respect the will of Peruvians and asked his supporters to wait for the decision of the National Jury of Elections (JNE) on the claims of the right-wing candidate Keiko Fujimori so that the country can face urgent issues such as the fight against Covid-19 and the economic reactivation.

During his speech at the National Assembly of Regional Governors (ANGR), Pedro Castillo reiterated the call for the unity of the Peruvian people and added that "the will of the people has to be above political appetites."

Pedro Castillo ratified the decision to promote a Constituent Assembly in which the governors would participate together with the representatives of the people.  In the midst of the political uncertainty that Peru is experiencing after the lack of official confirmation of the second round of elections on June 6th, mobilizations have been called for this weekend by political forces related to Pedro Castillo and Keiko Fujimori.
