Indigenous groups blockade White House demanding end to fossil fuel projects

Washington, July 1 (RHC)-- Indigenous leaders and climate justice activists blockaded access to the White House Wednesday, calling on U.S. President Joe Biden to invest more in climate justice initiatives in his infrastructure plans and to stop fossil fuel projects, including Enbridge’s Line 3 pipeline and the Mountain Valley Pipeline.

Indigenous water protector Taysha Martineau, who is a member of the Fond du Lac Tribe, spoke with reporters: “When the PUC approved the Line 3 pipeline, they declared war on the Anishinaabe.  And as Anishinaabe, I have been here for thousands of years.  If we do not stop Line 3, none of us will be here long.”
