Venezuela as expressed its rejection of Chile's decision to grant asylum to Emilio Grateron, wanted promoting acts of violence

Caracas, July 17 (RHC)-- The Venezuelan government has expressed its rejection of Chile's decision to grant asylum to Emilio Grateron, wanted for being one of the main promoters of perpetrating acts of violence .  In a communiqué issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Venezuela maintained that with this decision, Chile contributes to "whitewash the violence suffered by the Caracas population in the last weeks, by welcoming in its embassy in Caracas one of its main promoters."

He noted that Grateron had been requested for days by the Venezuelan justice system.  "With this decision, outside the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the unpopular and moribund Chilean government becomes an accomplice of the violent actions against the Venezuelan people and ratifies its little interest in peace and stability in Venezuela", stated the press release.

It highlighted that the asylum occurred "a few hours after the meeting in Washington between the U.S. Secretary of State and the Chilean Foreign Minister, Andrés Allamand."  "The efficiency in the fulfillment of the orders received in that meeting was publicly proven minutes later," the official statement noted.

Finally, the Venezuelan government mentioned that it will continue "guaranteeing peace and security throughout the national territory, in spite of the violent aggressions planned and promoted outside its borders".
