The parade of tanks a week ago in Brasília did not go down well with Brazilian citizens, revealed the survey

Brasilia, August 18 (RHC)-- At least 57.6 percent of Brazilians believe that President Jair Bolsonaro intends to stage a coup d'état in the country.  A survey conducted by the Opinion Institute of Congress in Focus reveals that only 11 percent think the right-wing leader will abide by democratic rules.

The survey promoted by the specialized website "Congreso en Foco" also shows that 10.3 percent of the respondents think that in certain circumstances a dictatorship is better than a democratic regime and 5.3 percent understand that it does not matter whether it is a democracy or a dictatorship.

The survey also questioned respondents about the parade of tanks a week ago in Brasília and for 43 percent of the people who knew about the episode, Bolsonaro tried to intimidate the Congress and the Supreme Federal Court with those events.

In the survey, 47.1 percent believe the military parade worsened Brazil's image abroad, just as the image of the Armed Forces also worsened for 36.3 percent of those interviewed.
