Lima, September 6 (RHC)-- The parliamentary bench of Peru Libre issued this Sunday a statement where rejecting the declarations of the president of Congress, Maria del Carmen Alva, who asserted that "the people are asking for presidential vacancy," which means a coup attempt against the newly elected president, Pedro Castillo.

"Statements of this nature reflect the dark intention to destabilize and weaken the democratic system (...) the president (Carmen Alva) would be at the forefront of a campaign aimed at seeking the vacancy of the Constitutional President, Pedro Castillo Terrones," indicates Perú Libre.

At the same time, the Peruvian political organization emphasizes that the pronouncement of the president of the Congress is backed by traditional right-wing parties, "extremist, radical and fascist groups seek to destabilize Peru's democracy."

"We consider that Mrs. María del Carmen Alva should not remain one more minute at the head of the Presidency of the Legislative Power," according to the statement of the parliamentary bench of Perú Libre.

In view of the systematic attacks by the media hegemony against President Castillo and the political organization, Peru Libre ratifies its commitment to implement policies that contribute to the development of the South American country.

"Peru Libre announces the beginning of a campaign aimed at strengthening the democratic system and promoting a culture of peace among our citizens," concludes the communiqué.
