Massacre in Valle del Cauca leaves three people dead

Bogota, October 25 (RHC)-- Authorities in Valle del Cauca, in southwestern Colombia, are investigating the events that took place in the Santa Barbara neighborhood of the municipality of Buga that left three people dead, including an 11-year-old girl, in what was the 79th massacre in the South American country during 2021.

The events took place inside a house located in the Santa Barbara neighborhood of the municipality of Buga, Valle del Cauca, in whose living room a family was having dinner.  Armed men arrived at the place and entered by force and began to shoot indiscriminately against two men of 24 and 31 years of age, who died immediately at the scene. 

Two men identified as Hernan David Orozco Narvaez, Jhon Jefferson Salazar, while and 11 year old Mabelin Serna Castro were killed by hired assassins in the San Antonio neighborhood of the municipality of Buga.   However, one of the bullets hit a nine-year-old girl, who was taken to San José hospital, where she died.

The Institute of Studies for Development and Peace (Indepaz) confirmed this Sunday that "last night two men identified as Hernan David Orozco Narvaez and Jhon Jefferson Salazar were killed by hired killers in the San Antonio neighborhood of the municipality of Buga, while Mabelin Serna Castro, 11 years old, died when she was being transported to a hospital.

Previously, a double homicide was reported in the municipality of San Pedro, Valle del Cauca, where armed men shot three people who were in a wooded area.  The gunmen killed two people in the place. However, authorities have not found the whereabouts of those responsible for this crime.

Another attack was reported in Barrancabermeja, Santander, in southeastern Colombia, where three attacks by hired killers left two people dead and two wounded.

On Saturday night, men on a motorcycle arrived at a bar in the Antonio Nariño neighborhood and started shooting at a group of friends who were drinking liquor.
