Bogota, March 29 (RHC)-- Three people were killed on Sunday in the municipality of Jamundí, located in the Valle del Cauca department, in southwestern Colombia, reported the Institute for Development and Peace Studies (Indepaz).

In what constitutes the 23rd massacre occurring in the South American country so far in 2021, the humanitarian organization indicated on its Twitter account that the events occurred in the village of Villacolombia, jurisdiction of the municipality of Jamundí.

The victims are two men and a woman identified as Ramiro Delgado, Melba Carreño and José Mestizo.  According to local media, authorities confirmed that the three people were found dead on Sunday afternoon in a rural area of Jamundí.

The mayor of Jamundí, Andrés Felipe Ramírez, posted on his Twitter account: "It is very painful to have to confirm that three people have been killed in Villacolombia.  From the Government of the citizens we have bet on comprehensive social investment in the countryside to write with the people the page of opportunities, but alone we cannot."

This event occurred 24 hours after the massacre that took place on Saturday in the municipality of Cartago, located in Valle del Cauca, where hired killers murdered four people, two men and two women.

Indepaz also denounced that unknown assailants killed the indigenous community member Ramiro Ascue Yule, "who was the son of the kiwe thegna Carmelina Yule, who had another son murdered last year."  The incident occurred in the municipality of Toribío, in the department of Cauca.
