Despite the state of emergency, mobilizations continue in several regions to reiterate their demands.

Lima, December 17 (RHC)-- Demonstrations continue throughout Peru, demanding that the Congress be closed and Pedro Castillo restored to power as president.  The latest report from the Peruvian Ministry of Health stated that 63 were wounded in clashes with police and at least 20 people have been killed.

Mobilizations in Peru continued through the night on Friday, demanding the convening of a Constituent Assembly, as well as early elections and the release of Pedro Castillo from detention.

In Cusco, a vigil was held in memory of those killed and injured in the police repression, while in the city of Arequipa, construction unions, the teachers union and other sectors called for the resignation of President Dina Boluarte.

In addition, in Lima's Plaza San Martin there were reports of aggression by police officers against protesters who were part of the peaceful demonstration.
