Authorities in El Salvador have predicted a heat wave for this weekend that will see temperatures that could reach 40 degrees Celsius in some areas of the Central American country.

San Salvador, May 20 (RHC)-- Authorities in El Salvador have predicted a heat wave for this weekend that will see temperatures that could reach 40 degrees Celsius in some areas of the Central American country.

A report from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources indicated that in recent days in the absence of rain, Salvadorans observed an increase in thermometers reaching over 40 degrees in some parts of the country.  It seems that these conditions will continue in the coming days. This Friday, in the eastern zone there was a heat wave with temperatures reaching 39 degrees.

The maximum temperature could reach 39 degrees in the east although there could be higher temperatures.  The ministry reported that temperatures in the national territory will increase as from this Friday and they consider that high values could be registered during the next days.

According to local media, the Observatory of Threats of MARN explained that high temperatures will remain for the next 3 to 5 days. Not only because of the low cloud cover, but also due to the transition from dry to rainy season and the presence of anticyclonic systems in the region.

The meteorologist of the Ministry of Environment, William Abarca, stated that there will be a hot environment.
