teleSUR receives congratulatory messages from around the world on its 18th anniversary

teleSUR, the first multi-state broadcaster in Latin America and the Caribbean, was born as a television channel on July 24, 2005, coinciding with the birthday of the Liberator Simón Bolívar.

Caracas, July 25 (RHC)-- teleSUR, the first multi-state broadcaster in Latin America and the Caribbean, was born as a television channel on July 24, 2005, coinciding with the birthday of the Liberator Simón Bolívar.

The teleSUR multimedia platform received on Monday several congratulations from presidents, political leaders and communicators in several messages on social networks.

The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, on his Twitter account stated: "Our north (our guiding star) is the South."  We already knew it, but no one had said it so beautifully until 07/24/05."   "Congratulations dear @teleSURtv, image and voice of the peoples in struggle, guardian of the truth, emancipating dream of #Fidel and #Chávez that today turns 18 years old."

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, for his part, in his message to the platform noted:   "The voice and the truth of the peoples of Our America has a name and it is called: telesur!  My greetings to Patricia Villegas and the entire professional and technical team. Today marks a new anniversary of this wonderful platform that generates awareness."

Another president who joined in the congratulations to the channel was the Argentinean leader Alberto Fernández.  In a video message he emphasized that in the face of the dominance of the large information monopolies, teleSUR emerges as a healthy alternative.

"That is why we should celebrate these 18 years, so that we can count on an independent, public media, which offers a view that has to do with the reality we live in our continent."  teleSUR, happy birthday", said the President.

The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, also on its Twitter account, recalled that this July 24th marks another anniversary of the beginning of transmissions of the news platform, which this year expands its services and launches itself fully to bring our content to new platforms and conquer new audiences. 

"In 2005, the multiplatform teleSUR began its transmissions, with a critical view of events. An idea promoted by Commanders Hugo Chávez and Fidel Castro. "One hears teleSUR and it is like a divine music, a music of the soul" Hugo Chávez", the tweet pointed out.

For his part, the president of the Institute of Information and Social Communication of Cuba, Alfonso Noya Martínez, wrote:  "From #Cuba a strong embrace full of gratitude and congratulations to the collective brother of @teleSURtv, "the voice of the voiceless", which celebrates today its 18th birthday in the service of the peoples who fight for justice and peace. This multimedia is a reference for the region and the world."

Likewise, the Argentine channel Televisión Digital Abierta, also highlighted that with teleSUR, the South is told from the South itself.   "From his account on the social network Twitter, sent a fraternal greeting to the multimedia and said that "since its launch in 2005 teleSUR occupied a place that was vacant, narrating the future of the people, especially those of this part of the planet.

The President of Bolivia, Luis Arce, also joined the list of congratulations to the multiplatform for its 18th anniversary.

"We send our congratulations to the professional and technical team and to those who make possible the broadcasting of the teleSUR television channel, which today celebrates 18 years at the service of the people.  We value their commitment to truth and responsibility with information," wrote the Bolivian president in a message posted on the social network Twitter.
