Belmopan, November 15 (RHC)-- The government of Belize has decided to suspend diplomatic relations with Israel because of the incessant bombing of the civilian population of the Gaza Strip.   "Since October 7, 2023, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) engaged in incessant indiscriminate shelling in Gaza that has killed more than 11,000 innocent civilians, mostly women and children.  The bombardment has destroyed many buildings and infrastructure, including hospitals, schools and other constructions," said a government statement.

The text blamed Israel for harming more than one million people living in the area, forcing them into displacement and limiting them from meeting basic needs such as water, food, electricity and medical supplies that have resulted in the loss of civilian lives.

"Israel has systematically violated international law, international humanitarian law and the human rights of Gazans," the Government of Belize stressed.

It also condemned the actions of the IDF in the Gaza Strip, and expressed its request to the Israeli occupation forces for an immediate ceasefire and the possibility of unimpeded access to humanitarian supplies, to which Israel has not agreed nor has it stopped the violations of international humanitarian law, as well as the impossibility for humanitarian workers to alleviate the suffering of Gazans.

Belizean authorities decided to withdraw their approval for the accreditation of Еіnаt Кrаnz-Nеіgеr, Israel's ambassador-designate to the nation, as well as suspend all activities performed by the Соnѕulаdо Ноnоrаrіо of Israel in Belize and the appointment of the consul.

"The Government of Belize also withdraws its application for accreditation of Јоnаthаn Еnаv as Honorary Consul to Belize," the statement punctuates.

Other nations have withdrawn their ambassadors in Tel Aviv, such as Jordan, Bahrain, South Africa, Saudi Arabia and Turkey; while in Latin America, nations such as Colombia, Chile and Honduras have recalled their respective ambassadors to Israel for consultations, and Bolivia broke diplomatic relations.
