Chicago, December 17 (RHC)-- Hacktivists have leaked an audio recording, which reveals the U.S. police spied on protesters against police brutality in Chicago.

Anonymous posted the audio of a conversation between Homeland Security-run Fusion Center and a police officer on its official Twitter account. The conversation proves spying on a protest leader at a demonstration slamming U.S. police racial profiling.

“One of the girls, an organizer here, she’s been on her phone a lot. You guys picking up any information (about) where they’re going possibly?” asked the officer. In response, the dispatch said, “Yeah, we’ll keep an eye on it. We’ll let you know if we hear anything.”

Protests have been held in the U.S. since a grand jury decided not to indict police officer Daniel Pantaleo in Eric Garner's chokehold death in New York City and two weeks after another grand jury decided not to indict former policeman Darren Wilson in the fatal shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.

Unlike the fatal shooting of Brown, the chokehold death of Garner, a father of six and grandfather of two, was recorded by a cell phone and widely seen, contributing to the public outrage. In the video, Garner repeatedly told police officers: "I can't breathe!”
