Mexican Energy Secretary Investigates Cuajimalpa Blast

Mexico City, January 31 (RHC-PL) -- The energy secretary (SENER) has opened an investigation into the causes of the accident at the maternity-infant hospital in Cuajimalpa, Mexico city, reported the institution.

The inquiries for the explosion that killed 3 and injured 70 in that hospital are assessing the administration's responsibility of the Gas Express Nieto of Mexico S.A., owner of the truck tank supply.

Sener's investigators are inspecting the site of the explosion and the truck-tank.

They also collected photographic evidence and proceeded to the identification of the vehicle to verify its authenticity and the corresponding permits, noted the institution in a communique.

They pointed out that the administrative investigation will be completed when the results of expert's reports, perform by the Attorney General of the Federal District, conclude.

If as a result of investigations that company is responsible for the alleged violation to the law applicable to the activity of LP gas distribution rule, the penalties provided in the Hydrocarbons Law will be imposed, emphasized Sener.
