Baghdad, June 4 (RHC)-- A series of explosions in and around the Iraqi capital Baghdad has claimed the lives of 11 people and left dozens others wounded, Iraqi authorities say.

Iraqi police officials said on Wednesday afternoon that a bomb explosion near some car spare parts shops in Baghdad's southeastern Basmaya district killed four people and wounded 11 others. Later on, police announced that three people lost their lives in a bomb blast in Baiyaa, west of the capital along the Baghdad Airport Road, and four people were killed and 17 more injured in two other bomb explosions that targeted public markets in two other districts of Baghdad.

The bombings in Baghdad took place as the Iraqi army, along with volunteer forces, is fighting the Takfiri terrorists across the country, especially in the provinces of Anbar and Salahuddin. During the past few days, Iraqi forces have managed to retake some areas in the two provinces from ISIL Takfiri terrorists and killed a large number of the militants.
