Washington, January 22 (RHC)-- Today marks seven years since U.S. President Barack Obama issued his executive order to close the U.S. prison at Guantánamo. This comes as the Obama administration has moved to suppress footage of a Guantánamo prisoner being force-fed.

Judge Gladys Kessler had ordered the tapes be released in October 2014, after 16 U.S. media organizations asked for them to be made public, but the Barack Obama administration appealed the order Thursday.

The U.S. president has promised to close the prison -- located on illegally-occupied Cuban territory -- since his first presidential campaign in 2008.
