Geneva, Apr 1 (RHC) The UN High Commissioner for Refugees denounced today the rising degradation at the detention centers for refugees in the Greek Islands, and warned that the situation may get out of control if European Union authorities don't react soon.

Melissa Fleming, spokesman for the UN body, denounced the demeaning conditions of the people waiting a decision on their deportation in centers like that in Moria, Lesbos island, hoarding some 2,300 immigrants when there is only room for 2,000.

The UN Agency Director for Communications deplored the frustration and desperation among the refugees with their split from their families with a new agreement between the European Union and Turkey: every one arriving in Turkey without a visa will face eviction, after a short interview to establish whether he or she is entitled to shelter and may request asylum.
