Havana, March 6 (RHC)-- The Director General for the United States at the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Carlos Fernández de Cossío, has confirmed the willingness on the part of Cuban authorities to engage in respectful dialogue with U.S. authorities on issues that affect the lives of millions of people in both Cuba and the U.S.

These remarks were in response to growing hostility towards Cuba by the Trump administration, whose State Department announced on Friday the decision to maintain the diplomatic staff reduction at its embassy in Cuba indefinitely.

The Cuban senior diplomat termed the decision as unilateral and unjustified and rejected the use by Washington of the term 'attack', insisting that there is no evidence whatsoever of any deliberate act against U.S. diplomats in Havana.

De Cossío recalled that from the beginning, Cuba was ready and willing to cooperate with the U.S. in the investigation to clarify the health incidents affecting some U.S. diplomats. He further noted that the issue is being used by sectors in the United States who oppose the progress achieved in Cuba U.S. relations under the Barack Obama administration.
