Havana, October 24 (RHC)-- Cuba's President Miguel Diaz-Canel will visit Russia, China, North Korea, Vietnam and Laos in early November, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez confirmed Wednesday.

During a news conference on U.S. decision to advance down a "path of confrontation" with Cuba, the foreign minister said Diaz-Canel would also transit through some European capitals.

Regarding the visit to Russia, scheduled for November 1st, Tass news agency reported that the first vice president of the Economic Policy Committee of the Federation Council (Senate), Serguei Kolashnikov, said it will be the first visit by the Cuban statesman to this nation.

Kolashnikov's statements were made after the vote in the Russian Senate on Wednesday of a resolution that demands the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba.

Diaz-Canel, who took office on April 19, made his first visit abroad as president to Venezuela. In September, he made his first visit to the United States to participate in the United Nations General Assembly.
