High-tech biofertilizers plant to be completed soon in Santiago de Cuba

Havana, August 3 (RHC)-- A modern biofertilizer plant being built in the province of Santiago de Cuba is about to be completed, and it is expected to begin operations at the end of September, said Wilmer Guevara, Ministry of Agriculture delegate in that eastern province.

 

Currently, work is being done on the last three objects of the 18 planned for the production of biopesticides, biofertilizers and biostimulants needed in sugarcane nd non-sugarcane agriculture, and the agro-industry, to help ensure food security.

 

The production by the new plant of Gluticid -- a foliar antifungal, pest and sisease controller-- will aid the protectiopn of the next cold season sowing in the country,  and will contribute to replace imports.

 

Héctor La O, director of the Dos Rios plant located located in  the municipality of Palma Soriano, said that the plant's products will be attained from grass derivatives and that equipment from Spain and Italy are in the process of assembly and testing.
