Havana, April 29 (RHC)-- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez denounced that the United States is recycling "infamous lies against the international medical cooperation programs of the island."

On his Twitter account, the foreign minister said that the U.S. State Department is tightening the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on the Caribbean nation, and insists on slandering the solidarity aid it provides to several countries.

In the context of COVID-19, they threaten the health of other peoples instead of joining the cooperation efforts for the good of all, he added.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel also alluded to this campaign of discredit promoted by Donald Trump's administration, and called this action a deliberate deception.  The president addressed the issue on his Twitter account, in which he shared an article from the Cubadebate website, where a U.S. State Department document entitled "The Truth about Cuba's Medical Missions" is analyzed.

He said that the objective of this new attack is to hide the failure of the pressures initiated more than a year ago, to put an end to Cuba's collaboration in health care.

José Ramón Cabañas, Cuban ambassador to the United States, also expressed himself in the same vein in an op/ed published by The Washington Post.   He called the slanderous statements about the island's medical cooperation "an insult."
