Havana, May 3 (RHC)-- With deep sorrow, the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported the sudden death this Saturday of Ambassador Ivan Mora Godoy, at the age of 60.  At the time of his death, he was serving as head of the Team of Cuban Guarantors of the Colombian peace process.

During his diplomatic career, Ivan Mora carried out important tasks, among them, the medical mission in Pakistan, as well as the functions of Ambassador to the United Nations Office in Geneva and to the Republic of Colombia.

The Cuban Foreign Ministry said that while he will no longer be physically with us, the legacy of Ivan Mora Godoy will endure in every victory of revolutionary diplomacy.

Cuba's Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent condocences to his family, friends and co-workers.

Former Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos issued a statement from Bogota, saying that the Cuban diplomat "was a key figure in the negotiations for the peace process in Colombia and for that reason we salute him.   My sincere condolences to his family."
