Reinicio curso escolar

Havana, September 1 (RHC)-- This Tuesday, the 2019-2020 school year is resuming. After five months of waiting, most of the country's territories will continue the school year without neglecting the necessary hygienic measures imposed by the threat of COVID-19.

In general education, the first weeks will be for the students to meet their teachers and for the necessary brush-up. Then, evaluations will be implemented, mainly through integrative seminars and practical work.

According to Ena Elsa Velázquez Cobiella, Minister of Education, when the school term was interrupted, 70 percent of the teaching activities had been completed, so it is feasible without neglecting the fundamentals to conclude the pending contents.

The students who live in territories that, due to their epidemiological situation, cannot start again, will benefit from teleclasses that begin Tuesday.

The universities will also open their doors to conclude the interrupted school year. Seventy-five percent of the students who were in terminal years have managed to perform their completion exercises. Only about 3,500 of the students in the regular daytime course are pending, which must be concluded in the coming weeks.

Dr. José Ramón Saborido Loidi, Minister of Higher Education, explained that in 90 days, the 2019-2020 school year would end. A curricular shift has been made, leaving a design that contains the fundamentals of each career. He meant that each university, given its characteristics, has proposed how to move forward during this situation.
