Havana, September 8 (RHC)—Cuba reported 25 new cases of Covid-19 and 2 deaths in the last 24 hours.

In his daily media briefing on the epidemic on the island, the National Director of Epidemiology, Dr. Francisco Duran, stressed the increasing number of PCR tests performed.

”7572 samples were processed, a figure that is being expanded so that a greater number of people can be covered. In the next days in Havana, population studies are going to be carried out, not precisely as part of outbreak control, but in populations at risk, to look for infected asymptomatic people who are not likely to be detected unless they undergo a PCR test”.

Duran added that Havana had 6,246 samples studied, and Ciego de Avila 562. These provinces are currently at the center of attention of the epidemic.

With the new cases, Cuba has 4,377 positive cases since the beginning of the pandemic.
