Damascus, Dec 22 (RHC) The Syrian Minister of Religious Affairs  Mohammed Abdul Sattar Al-Sayyed highlighted Cuba's honorable position towards Syria during the years of war that the Arab nation faces.

I express the deepest gratitude to the Cuban people and government for being with us and supporting us during the almost ten years of war. Damascus has faced terrorist mercenaries sponsored by foreign powers, the Syrian minister said during a meeting with Cuban Ambassador Miguel Porto.

The minister advocated for extending bilateral cooperation in several fields, including the fight against terrorism.

According to the minister, Cuba and other progressive countries defend justice and will defeat the United States' onslaught.

He also denounced that Washington is developing an alliance with the sponsors of extremism to attack Syria and other countries.

"If it were not for the terrorists sent from abroad, this nation of the Levant would have solved the internal crisis," he said.

Extremism is alien to Syrian society, which is the creditor of a deep-rooted civilization that calls for love, peace, and mercy, he said.

For his part, the Cuban ambassador ratified the Caribbean nation's support to Syria in its fight against international terrorism.
