Cuba and Vietnam sign economic and scientific agreements

Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment minister Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz represented Cuba.

Havana, December 30 (RHC)--With the signing of agreements in the areas of agriculture, fisheries, biotechnology, and science, as well as for the development of the Bilateral Economic Agenda from 2020 to 2025, the 38th Session of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic and Scientific-Technical Collaboration between the Republic of Cuba and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam took place on Tuesday.   

The Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of the Greater Antilles, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, praised the special framework in which the meeting took place. This year, both nations celebrated six decades of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

The co-president of the Intergovernmental Commission thanked the support given by that Asian country in the year. The Island has had to face the COVID-19 pandemic and the intensification of the United States' blockade.

Pham Hong Ha, Minister of Construction of Vietnam, expressed the importance of Vietnamese companies' investment in sectors of vital priority for Cuba.

At the meeting, the minister was awarded the Friendship Medal, a distinction that recognizes solidarity with Cuba and the unconditional attachment to the defense of the Revolution
