Cuba reports 1 418 new COVID-19 cases, 5 deaths

Havana, June 17 (RHC)—Cuba health authorities reported on Thursday 1 418 new cases of COVID-19 and 5 deaths. Over the last 5 days, infections have surpassed 1300 cases.

The island now accumulates 163 415 positive cases and 1123 deaths due to complications of the disease.

As of midnight, 7 742 positive patients remained hospitalized island-wide, and the figure is again a record for a day.

Havana reported 372 autochthonous cases. Although it is still the highest, it continues declining the infections.  Camaguey reported 218 cases and Santiago de Cuba, 173.

According to the update, till June 15, 773 460 Cubans had been fully vaccinated with the vaccine candidates designed by the island’s biotechnology centers and 35 in every 100 inhabitants had received at least one dose.
