Havana, June 28 (RHC)--The third group of the Henry Reeve International Contingent of Doctors Specialized in Disaster Situations and Serious Epidemics, who assisted in confronting COVID-19 in South Africa since April last year, is back.

The team was made up of 31 specialists from all over the country, including doctors specialized in General Comprehensive Medicine, graduates in Electromedicine, Information Management, and in Hygiene and Epidemiology.

Most of them had already completed international missions in other regions. During their stay in South Africa, they contributed to the fight against the disease in Mpumalanga, the Eastern Cape, and Gauteng.

The Cuban health personnel attended to more than 50 thousand patients, of whom about 25 thousand were related to SARS-CoV-2.

Likewise, they performed surgeries, deliveries, and cesarean sections and repaired and maintained various medical equipment.
