San Juan, June 28 (RHC)--The Cuba Solidarity Committee in Puerto Rico held this Sunday a marathon to raise funds to send syringes to Cuba to combat COVID-19.

The president of the Committee, Milagros Rivera, explained that amid the reinforced U.S. blockade on the island, the idea is to provide Cuba with syringes and other sanitary utensils to advance in the fight against COVID-19 since it has two homegrown vaccines to inoculate its population.

Rivera added that Puerto Rico has to find ways to materialize its support to the Cuban people since it faces many obstacles as a colony of the United States.

The Puerto Rican social activist recalled that the Cuba solidarity Juan Rius Rivera solidarity brigade is getting ready to travel to the island.

She also noted that the Committee for Solidarity with Cuba in Puerto Rico dedicated its thirtieth anniversary to Rafael Cancel Miranda and the brave Cuban health personnel.
