Cuba reports 6923 new COVID-19 cases and 47 deaths

Havana, July 11 (RHC) --   Cuban health authorities announced 47 deaths due to COVID-19 on Saturday, 22 of them in the province of Matanzas, the current epicenter of the epidemic on the island. After processing 46 648 samples for the detection of SARS-COV-2, 6 923 people were confirmed positive.


32 088 confirmed patients are hospitalized, the highest number for a day. The island now accumulates 238 491 cases and 1537 deaths since the beginning of the epidemic 16 months ago.


As the infection rate remains very high in the national territory, the province of Matanzas reported 3351 autochthonous cases, Habana 597, Santiago 458, and Cienfuegos 368.
