Havana, August 13 (RHC)-- Fidel Castro is the present and future of the unity of revolutionaries, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel said on Friday

The President spoke at the International Virtual Forum 'Fidel, a man of science with a vision of the future, convened by the Sao Paulo Forum and the Communist Party of Cuba, with the participation, among others, of political leaders, intellectuals, and the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro.

Díaz-Canel stressed that the unity advocated by Fidel Castro was what made the Cuban Revolution and other revolutionary processes triumph.

He also acknowledged the Cuban leader's contribution to the island's technological and scientific sovereignty efforts.

Under that purpose -he recalled- Cuba was filled with health centers, scientists, and schools, despite what he described as the 'obstinate, unjust and genocidal blockade of the United States,' the greatest obstacle to the development of the Caribbean country.

Under such circumstances, aggravated by the Covid-19 pandemic, the new man defined by Che Guevara lives and works in Cuba, Diaz-Canel said.

"I have seen them working in the care of the sick between the hope of the vaccines and the uncertainty of the new strains," the President said.

He pointed out that this action reflects Fidel Castro's thought of placing the human being above profits.

In another moment of his remarks, the President stressed that the country would not renounce the Internet, nor progress and development, in reference to Washington's manifest intention to regulate access to the Internet in Cuba, another aggression against the country
