Curmeric, Cuban drug with proven antibacterial action.
Havana, Oct 2 (RHC) Cuba is advancing the first population-based intervention with Curmeric, a natural product developed to prevent Covid-19.
The national drug -with proven antibacterial action- began to be administered to suspected patients and contacts of SARS-CoV-2 positive cases in five health areas of the municipality of Ciego de Avila, in that central province.
Tania Valdés, head of the Theragnostic Laboratory and of the National Product Development Projects of Curcuma longa, explained that the intervention will gradually reach the territories of Florencia, Chambas and Ciro Redondo in order to measure its efficacy.
Authorized to be administered by the Innovation Committee of the Ministry of Public Health. Curmeric contains Curcuma longa extracts and uses high technology to determine its beneficial properties.
Granma newspaper reported that its safety was demonstrated and it has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antiviral effects against the bovine coronavirus, of the same subgenus as SARS-CoV-2. The results of the intervention with Curmeric - administered orally and nasally - will be available in one to two months. (Source:PL)
