Havana, August 23 (RHC)-- Almost one million more people in Cuba will receive this week at least one dose of anti-Covid-19 vaccines as part of the massive immunization strategy that the country is carrying out.

For this effort, in addition to the 52  municipalities participating in the health intervention, 22 others will be added

This Saturday, the Abdala vaccine injections arrived in the territories of Tercer Frente, Guamá, Segundo Frente, and Mella, the only ones that had not yet started the immunization in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba.

Abdala, designed by the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB), presents a vaccination scheme of three doses to be administered at intervals of 0-14-28 days, which showed efficacy rates of 92.28 percent in the prevention of asymptomatic disease.

Likewise, Guantanamo volunteers convalescing from Covid-19 will receive the Soberana Plus vaccine, developed by the Finlay Vaccine Institute (IFV).

With this product, only one dose is administered, the immunization of health workers who suffered from the disease has already been completed.

On August 20, Sobernana 02 and Soberana Plus received approval from Cuba's Center for State Control of Medicines and Medical Equipment (Cecmed), which authorized their use in emergencies.

With this step, Cuba now has three vaccines approved against Covid-19.
