Havana, November 23 (RHC)-- The strengthening of ties of friendship and cooperation between Cuba and China were highlighted Tuesday in a meeting between the secretary of the parliament of the Caribbean island, Homero Acosta, and Ma Hui, ambassador here of the Asian country.

 

In the exchange, the parties stressed the intention to consolidate ties between the two peoples, parties, governments, and legislative bodies, in a relationship that last September reached 61 years’

 

Acosta thanked China for the solidarity shown to Cuba and its firm position against the U.S. blockade imposed on the Caribbean island.

 

According to information published on the Cuban parliament's website, Ma Hui received an update on the progress of legislative activity on the island and on the accountability of grassroots delegates to their constituents.

 

Other topics discussed were the strengthening of the People's Power -after the challenges outlined by the 8th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and the 2nd Plenary Session of the Central Committee of the PCC-, and the 45th anniversary of the People's Power bodies.

 

The Chinese ambassador in Havana ratified the solidarity with Cuba in the face of the most recent destabilization attempts while recognizing the island's results in the confrontation with Covid-19 and the development of its vaccines.
