Cuba and France

Pinar del Rio, Dec 17 (RHC) Lauren Burin, French ambassador to Havana, highlighted the ties of friendship and cooperation that identify the relations between his country and Cuba, strengthened in several spheres.

The French diplomat visited the western city of Pinar del Río the day before to deliver donations of medicines and supplies to the health institutions Pepe Portilla Pediatric Hospital and the León Cuervo Surgical Clinic.

With this we intend to contribute to the support of health services in this province, which was severely damaged after the passage of Hurricane Ian, he said.

The delivery to both centers is the result of the cooperation of several French organizations and others in solidarity with the island and was thanked by the health authorities.

The director of the Pepe Portilla Pediatric Hospital, Dr. Mayté Cabrera, praised the gesture on behalf of the children treated in that hospital, the only one of its kind in the western province.

After the storm hit that territory early in the morning of September 27, several countries, international and religious organizations, personalities, businessmen, representatives of Cuban MSMEs, and artists have made similar gestures with this territory, whose housing fund, electric, telephone, and hydraulic networks and schools were affected.

Public health institutions were also affected by the winds of Ian, a category four on the Saffir-Simpson scale of five.

International solidarity was preceded by the action of the Cubans who arrived in Pinar del Río from all the provinces of the country to support the recovery tasks that continue. (Source: PL)
