Havana, December 20 (RHC)-- Cuba's Prime Minister Manuel Marrero congratulated the young people who make up the Federation of University Students (FEU) on the 99th anniversary of the founding of that organization.

On Twitter, the head of government pointed out that FEU members, faithful to the legacy of communist leader Julio Antonio Mella (1903-1929) and to the "history that is engraved in its ranks, are committed to the conquests of the Revolution."

Mella founded the FEU on December 20, 1922, to represent the interests and assert the rights of Cuban university students.

Any person pursuing higher education in Cuba, without distinction of sex, race, religious belief, nationality, or social origin, who voluntarily wishes to belong to the organization and does not have a worker's status, may join it.

It is also made up of active student leaders up to two years after graduation.

On the occasion of the anniversary, on this day, there will be a central event on the steps of the University of Havana, where a campaign will be launched for the centenary of the FEU with three main axes: political-ideological, cultural and sports work.
