Havana, December 27 (RHC)-- In September next year, Cuba will carry out a new Population and Housing Census in which mobile devices will be introduced to capture data while collecting information in homes, replacing the traditional paper support with which the questionnaires were made.

Diego Enrique González, National Director of the Census, explained that this mechanism will significantly reduce the printing and transportation costs of the extensive and voluminous census documentation, estimated at more than 83 million pages.

The use of information technologies will facilitate the review, verification, and codification processes and reduce the need for personnel and equipment for the processing phase.

Cuba has 247 years of experience, and the 2022 Census will be the fifth one carried out in times of Revolution.

The last census conducted in Cuba was in 2012. It inquired about geographic, personal, household, educational, and migration characteristics.

At that time, the population was 11,167,325 inhabitants, including more than two million in Havana.
