Havana, January 5 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel congratulated the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) on the 63rd anniversary of its creation.

In a message posted on Twitter, the President thanked the armed corps, officially established on January 5, 1959, after the Revolution led by Fidel Castro came to power.

The PNR grew up fighting in Girón and defends the tranquility of citizens today. The heroic troop that erased the sad pre-revolutionary memory of the police in Cuba forever,"  he also wrote.

Its mission is to preserve public order, tranquility, and road safety,

Its ranks are filled with committed young people, protagonists of the most transcendental moments of the Cuban Revolution, among them, the victory over the U.S.-trained mercenaries at Playa Giron in 1961.

The PNR, through its General Directorate, is part of the Ministry of the Interior, with whose bodies it works together.
