London, May 14 (RHC) -- Britain's Queen Elizabeth II sent her condolences to Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel and the people of Cuba following the accidental explosion at the Saratoga Hotel in Havana.

"I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life and injury caused by the explosion in Havana on May 6," says the message from the British monarch.

Elizabeth II said her thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the tragedy, their families, and the emergency services helping those affected.

The iconic Saratoga hotel suffered a powerful explosion last Friday when a tanker carrying liquefied gas was serving its facilities. The blast caused the demolition of the front and side facades of the second floors of the building and damaged other adjacent structures.

The accident left 46 people dead and 99 injured.
