Havana, May 31 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz attended the 13th Congress of the Confederation of Italians in the World (CIM).

The event at the National Hotel of Cuba began on Tuesday with a recognition of the work of Cuban medical brigades in the fight against Covid-19 in Italian regions.

The president of the CIM Congress, Angelo Sollazzo, said that more Italians live in the world than in their country of birth. "Some 50 million live in Italy, while another 80 million live worldwide," he said.

The event will take place until June 2. It will be attended by foreign political and economic personalities, who will evaluate investment possibilities in the island's tourism sector.

The Confederation of Italians in the World groups communities of the European nation located in 34 countries.
